Meta Llama 3 8B Instruct

About the Model

Llama 3 8B Instruct is an instruction-tuned large language model (LLM) developed by Meta (formerly Facebook). It is designed to follow user prompts accurately while maintaining good reasoning, coherence, and factual grounding. The model balances capability and efficiency, making it suitable for summarisation and language (including grammar) clarity.

Core Capabilities

  • Instruction-following and conversational responses
  • Summarisation of long-form documents and reports
  • Clarification and restructuring of complex arguments
  • Grammar, tone, and clarity refinement
  • Support for research-oriented questioning

The model performs especially well in structured analytical tasks where precision and coherence matter more than creativity. Also, the model’s capability to upload and analyse long-form content has been temporarily disabled, as it is currently in the testing phase.

Context Window

Maximum token length: 8000 tokens

This includes both the input text and the model’s response combined. Currently, the context window has been reduced, as it is currently in the testing phase.

Limitations

  • Not designed for very long single-pass document analysis beyond its context window
  • Less capable than larger models for highly complex multi-hop reasoning/steps
  • Cannot produce/generate contents especially on recent current events.

Our Recommendations

This model provides good performance (and ideally used) for summarisation, pre-drafting (including title fixing) and language clarity.

Note: Additionally guardrails are active that disables and prevents generation, production, manipulation and other prohibited categories.
